Better wool
Leading Sheep has produced a video and case study on how St George wool producer Rod Avery uses data to breed better sheep and find the value in his wool. In the video, click here to watch, Rod demonstrates and explains how and why he collects data and how he uses it to make decisions on his property and the impact that this has had and continues to have on his enterprise.
The case study explains how Rod uses sheep-classing technology to improve productivity and business outcomes. He talks about using and embracing technology, how gradual changes can be made and how he can make more informed decisions when it comes to culling and breeding. Humpy Back
With recent reports of Humpy Back in South West Queensland it is a timely reminder of the impact that this condition has on your sheep, what you can do to reduce the risk of your sheep being affected and if they are affected what you can do to help them recover. Work completed by former Leading Sheep extension officer Milly Nolan resulted in the publication of a report highlighting the conditions that led to different flocks being impacted by Humpy Back.
