7. Size linked to ewe profitability

Larger ewes can be more profitable when access to labour is limited, according to research scientist Andrew Kennedy. Mr Kennedy went on to say “the assumption is that because you can’t run as many ewes it must be less profitable but they were counteracting this assumption by producing heavier lambs”.

A website has been created to sell or donate fodder directly to Australian farmers in drought declared areas. It’s an initiative of the Aussie Helpers Foundation, which is assisting drought-affected farmers and graziers nation-wide.
