2. Have your say in the Regional Wellbeing survey and win a prize
There is still time for you to take part in the University of Canberra Regional Wellbeing survey – it is open until October 18. The survey is identifying:
- how to better support wellbeing in rural and regional areas
- how changes to agriculture and the environment affect wellbeing
- how to help communities adapt to change.
You can complete the survey online at www.regionalwellbeing.org.au
All eligible survey participants can enter a draw to win one of the nine prizes worth a total of $7,000.
3. Is it worth feeding additives and mineral supplements?
As a producer there are many stock feed supplements and additives to choose from, but how do you decide on the products that will benefit your stock and profit? Before feeding a mineral supplement or an additive do you know:
- if there is a definite deficiency you are aiming to overcome?
- whether this deficiency is the primary limiting factor – is it necessary to provide the animal with extra energy or protein before this mineral supplement is warranted?
- if a known (diagnosed) mineral imbalance is causing production losses on your property?
Click here to read a fact sheet on the usefulness and economic benefit of stock feed additives and mineral supplements .
4. National wild dog action plan – have your say!
In February 2013, WoolProducers Australia (WPA) brought together critical industry stakeholders to develop a national action plan to combat the economic and personal devastation caused by wild dogs across rural Australia. The goal when initiating this work was to harness all the excellent work being undertaken to manage wild dogs from around the country and to use this to facilitate a nationally coordinated approach.
You can find out more about this action plan and give your feedback before October 25 by clicking here.
